We look forward to your continued support of Bike Nights next season!  Thanks to our special sponsors:  High Performance Cycles, Service Electric Cable TV and Communications, law firm of Scherline & Associates, Harrah's Resorts in Atlantic City, BACA - Bikers Against Child Abuse, Gebhardt's Trophies and Harmony Press.

In 2005 Lehigh Valley McDonald’s owner-operator and motorcycle enthusiast Mike Fountaine founded Hawk/McDonald’s Bike Nights to provide a venue for motorcyclists to showcase their bikes and raise money for Ronald McDonald Camp.  The first Hawk/McDonald’s Bike Night was held on July 24, 2005 and the event has grown each year both in the number of participants, sponsors and funds raised for the charity. Hawk/McDonald’s Bike Night is the premier Bike Night event in the Lehigh Valley.  Since its inception, Hawk/McDonald’s Bike Nights has raised over $34,000.  Fundraising initiatives include: sponsorship packages, the sale of commemorative lapel pins, registration fees for bikes in the judging area, people’s choice donations, and a $1 donation from the Owner-Operator for each bike that comes out to the event they host.

In 2014 Hawk/McDonald Bike Night celebrated it’s 10th year with 8 Sunday events at different McDonald’s locations in the Lehigh Valley.  Bikes are judged in (8) eight classes and trophies are awarded for the best bikes.   Major sponsors this year include Service Electric Cable TV and Communications, High Performance Cycle, Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City, Harmony Press, Inc., Scherline and Associates and Gebhardts.  Their loyalty and commitment to these events have enabled Bike Nights at McDonald’s to grow each year.

The beneficiary of all Bike Night’s proceeds is The Ronald McDonald Camp.  In the early 1970's, Dr. Audrey Evans, the Clinical Director of the Oncology Division for the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia had a vision for the children she treated for cancer on a daily basis. Having seen these children withstand harsh and painful treatments, she sought to create a place where they had the opportunity to laugh, have fun and enjoy being kids. With this, her dream to create a summer camp experience for children with cancer was born. During the early years of her pursuit, small groups of children enjoyed camping experiences at camps in New Hampshire, Cape Cod and Pennsylvania. Then, in 1987, Dr. Evans' dream was fully realized when the Ronald McDonald Camp was established as a special project of the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House. Dedicated staff and volunteers worked to shape a summer camp program that was also special enough to meet the needs of our campers. Over the last twenty years, Ronald McDonald Camp has "grown up" and expanded into an extraordinary summer camp for children with cancer, ages 7-19, and their siblings.
