WORKFORCE: Splintered Sunlight

The Hawk wants to send you to the Musikfest Cafe to experience the sights and sounds of Splintered Sunlight on Thursday, July 20th! Formed in 1992, Splintered Sunlight quickly became the most popular Grateful Dead tribute band in the Philadelphia region, gaining praise from Dead Heads and others alike. Following its success last year in the Musikfest Café as the venue’s first-ever Artist in Residence, the group is returning to recreate classic Dead shows the band performed in this region in the 1970s-’90s. Included are a 1976 concert from the Tower Theatre in Upper Darby; 1985 performance at Hershey Park Stadium in Hershey; the last-ever show at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia before the stadium was torn down; and the 1995 Philadelphia Spectrum show that featured the breakout of the Dead favorite “Unbroken Chain,” previously never performed live.
