 SIGN ON BONUS FOR DIRECT CARE STAFF

This program went into effect January 1, 2019 and is scheduled to sunset on December 31, 2020.

An applicant who is hired during this time frame for a first time full time non-exempt program service direct care position who has not been referred by an employee will receive a $500 bonus at the successful completion of the 6 month probationary status and $1,000 bonus at the completion of one year.  As noted above, performance evaluations must be completed and received in the Human Resource Department to generate the bonus.

Employees who refer an applicant who is then hired into first time, full time non-exempt program service direct care position will receive $100 bonus in the first paycheck following the pay period in which the referred applicant is hired.

The referring employee and the newly hired employee will each receive a $250 bonus at the successful completion of the newly hired employees 6 month probationary status. A performance evaluation must be completed and received in the Human Resource Department to generate the bonus.

Once the newly hired employee completes one year of employment, the referring employee and the newly hired employee will each receive a $500 bonus! An annual performance evaluation with a recommendation of continued employment must be completed and received in the Human Resource Department to generate the bonus.

The sign on bonuses represent one time payments made to the employee and referring employee after the successful completion of the employment timeframes identified. The bonus payments represent income to the employee and, as such, are subject to payroll taxes.

An employee is not eligible for either of the bonus installments if:

The employee or the referred employee leaves SBS before the completion of the time frame. (6 months from date of hire, and 1 year from the date of hire)

The referred employee changes from a full time to a part time position. Neither the referring employee nor the newly hired employee will receive the bonus.

The current Recruitment Incentive Bonus program is still in place for other positions within the Agency.
